1.4. First Steps in Treatment

Certainly, for a beginner it is not that simple to operate with ego, but it is important that he or she knows that any person can learn this. The energy, i.e. effort, invested in the switch-off/switch-on of ego is amply repaid, and we are glad that our transformations work, which also gives our ego the satisfaction that it has become someone (e.g. a student or therapist) important. This satisfaction is later lost, as we are entirely overcome by universal love - our final goal. For when we achieve universal love, our ego is no longer an obstacle. It cooperates in the performance of spiritual treatments, as if it has come to agreement with our inner self and they operate harmoniously. We say that in this state we are harmonised with the natural laws and that we act in line with the laws of the creation.

Our first step towards the desired goal is the so-called dedication of attention. Generally, we all observe our environment and the happening around us very superficially. It is difficult for us to remember the details of individual objects that we saw the day before; often this is also true of the things we saw an hour ago. This is superficiality, which hinders or disturbs us in spiritual development, i.e. growth.

Each object, everything around us, holds a multitude of data. If we take an ordinary spoon into our hands, we can soon discover how it was made, from which material it is made off, what colour it is, its size, its purpose, its origin, production process, transport, form of packaging, marketing, and more and more. We add together the data we remember about the object observed.

If we observe an object in our mind, we must see it from all sides at once. If the object observed is, for instance, a wardrobe, in our mind we see it from all sides simultaneously: from the front, from the back, from the left and right sides, from up above and from down up. In the beginning, such observation is a small problem, because our thoughts run along the sides of the object. This gets amusing as the game of mental observation of different objects becomes a habit and quickly enables us to master the technique of mental observation of objects. Our attitude towards objects also becomes authentic and understanding. We insert much attention and love into the object observed.
